2 KINGS: A HEART OF OBEDIENCE TO A FAITHFUL GOD

 

God has set up His people for success! He has given them a place, relationship with Him, purpose and guidelines for living.

 

We will see in this series...
..the divine patience and faithfulness of God.
...the significance of sin.
...the unavoidable result of disobedience.
...the call to be a covenant community.

2 KINGS 2 

WHERE NOW IS THE LORD

As we journey through the book of 2 Kings in the coming weeks, we are going to see that God’s desire is that His people have a Heart of Obedience to a Faithful God. And it starts with a faithful God who is present.

 

GOD IS PRESENT…

  • God is present in power.

  • God’s presence demands response.

 

Do you know and experience God’s presence increasingly in your life?

GOD IS SALVATION - 2 KINGS 3-4

In this passage we are shown, through a series of miracles, scenario's of salvation.

 

We see the God is salvation. A salvation that is...

  • victory over the enemy.

  • freedom from slavery.

  • life from death.

  • being fully satisfied.

  • on account of someone else.

 

We see that it all points to Jesus is salvation.

 

Are you calling on the God of salvation?

2 KINGS 5

GOD IS SALVATION

​

In this passage we see that God never fails being faithful to us. God breaks through the curse and desires salvation.

​​

  • God desires salvation for all.

  • God's salvation isn't complicated.

  • God's salvation requires faithful obedience.

  

Are we willing to accept and submit to God?

GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY & FAITHFUL - 2 KINGS 6-8

God is faithful and trustworthy to His...

  • Promises

  • People

  • Prophet

​​

Though kings and people fail God, God will not fail His people!

​​

Will we put our trust in Him?

A JUST & RIGHTEOUS KING - 2 KINGS 9-10

​​

God can use all types of people and actions to fulfil His plans as he outworks His justice through His righteous character.

​

The King carries out His justice. He is sovereign and keeps His promises.

​

We face the Kings judgement. He will judge the heart of all.

​

Salvation is from the King. God not only just, but loving and gracious.

​

If God is moving, it is a time for us to move.​​

 

Hezekiah went to the temple, shared his distress with God, and God responded.

 

We too must go to God, ask and then obey.

GOD IS FAITHFUL 2 KINGS 23:31-25:30

The narrative of 2 Kings rushes to its terrible and  predictable conclusion.

 

In our passage today, we met a God who is not only actively present, but faithful in the way He works.

 

GOD IS FAITHFUL to his promises.

God has a fulfilment point. A point where he says, I will faithfully fulfil my promises.

 

GOD IS FAITHFUL to his character.

God's punishment is a divine response to human choice.

 

GOD IS FAITHFUL to provide hope.

Israel still had its kingly line. He maintains the line of David. King Jesus! Hope in flesh.

 

May we honour our part in God’s covenant love, daily.
