THE GOSPEL OF MARK

Mark is a call to discipleship. Jesus doesn’t simply call us to believe certain things about Him; He calls us to follow Him—to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him.

Mark begins with the declaration that Jesus is the Messiah and Son of God, then demonstrates His authority through teaching, miracles, and the proclamation of God's kingdom.

As the story unfolds, Jesus repeatedly calls people to faith while exposing the inadequacy of merely external religion.

The turning point comes when the disciples recognise Jesus as the Christ, yet must learn that His missions involves suffering, sacrfice, and the cross.

The final chapters reveal Jesus as the faithful King who willingly dies for sinners and rises again in victory.

Mark therefore shows that God's kingdom comes through the crucified and risen Christ, inviting every reader to repent, believe the gospel, and follow Jesus as Lord.

As we work through Mark together, we’ll keep coming back to three key questions:

Who is Jesus?
What has Jesus come to do?
What does it mean to follow Jesus?

Everything in the Scriptures is God's Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live.

God's word is alive and powerful! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts.
