People, music, mud, community, fun! A team from KCC and FBC (Fielding Community Church) had an amazing time at the recent Festival One Festival at Hartford Karapiro.
Youth, young adults, and families combined to create a shared campsite at the festival, where we ate, slept, sheltered, and connected.
For some, like Darah, the highlight was being in the middle of the muddy mosh pit while Albert Street played.
Kerian created a highlight for the Kiwi born, Korean rapper Microdot, by interviewing him. While his own favourite time was the mudslides.
Many appreciated the music and message of the band We Are Messengers.
We entered a team in the volleyball competition and made the second round.
Teri and Aliza organised amazing meals, as we all pitched in to cook and do dishes.
Everyone was engaged and challenged by the speaker Mike Donehey who unpacked Psalm 23 in a fresh and robust way. Across 3 messages he shared what the passage meant to the original hearers, and the helped us understand it today in our own worlds. He led us through the Bible to desire a deeper experience of relationship with God and to then allow that to impact how we relate to others.
If you are keen to join the group next year, chat to someone who went.
